Fabio Wardley reveals he is happy to wait for a showdown with Tyson Fury

Fabio Wardley went from strength to strength in 2026

Fabio Wardley (20-0-1, 19 KO’s) capped off the heat with a ferocious stoppage win over the resurgent Joseph Parker, before being handed the WBO title following Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to vacate the belt.

Since then, he's been preparing for an even bigger 2026, and a clash with fellow countryman Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KO’s) could be on the cards.

‘The Gypsy King’ recently announced his return from retirement, seemingly keen to attempt a return to his heavyweight throne.

Fury has previously revealed he is open to battling the Ipswich-based knockout artist, though no deal between the pair has yet been agreed.

It is understood that the 37-year-old will likely pursue a tune-up fight before taking on one of heavyweight’s best, with Arslanbek Makhmudov one name who the former world champion has been linked with.

This doesn't seem to have deterred Wardley, who has revealed he is happy to wait for Fury to get back in the swing of things before agreeing to a sensational matchup later in the year. 

“I hope he’s training hard and shedding the pounds,” Wardley told Boxing Social.

“I think he’s in Thailand or somewhere like that enjoying the sun. I hope they’re having a good time out there.

“If he is going to have a little warm-up, I hope he comes through it and that it’s not a banana skin. And look, if that’s really what you want to do, I don’t think you need to — it’s just little old me, don’t worry about it. I’m no trouble.

“But if you do need one, that’s fine. Do what you’ve got to do. Then, when you’re done, give me a call.”
