Tyson Fury Captures the WBC METTA Humanitarian Belt

'The Gypsy King' Tyson Fury made a highly successful return to the ring with a dominant performance, defeating Poland’s Mariusz Wach by technical knockout after seven rounds at the Max Muay Thai Stadium in Pattaya, Thailand, to capture the inaugural WBC METTA Humanitarian Belt, a special award created to celebrate the values of compassion, solidarity, and humanitarian service.

From the opening bell, the former heavyweight world champion dictated the pace with his trademark footwork, speed precision and high IQ ring generalship. 46-year-old Wach displayed the teak toughness that has defined his career, but gradually buckled under Fury’s relentless attacks.

Morecombe's Fury landed powerful combinations throughout the contest, punishing both the body and head of his opponent until Wach’s corner humanely decided to stop the fight at the end of the seventh round, giving the British star a technical knockout victory in his 39th fight, settimng up the long-awaited showdown with rival Anthony Joshua in November.

Beyond the sporting result, the event carried a powerful humanitarian message. The bout was organised to support charitable causes and marked the inaugural presentation of the WBC METTA Humanitarian Belt, inspired by the Buddhist concept of “Metta”, symbolising loving-kindness, compassion, and goodwill toward others.

A generous portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the Father Ray Foundation, a Thai organisation dedicated to supporting disadvantaged children and young people.

With this win, Tyson Fury adds another milestone to his outstanding career, while becoming the first boxer ever to lift the WBC METTA Humanitarian Belt, writing a new chapter in the history of the World Boxing Council.
