Anthony Joshua shares emotional statement on social media

Anthony Joshua took to social media for the first time since his horror car crash on December 29, 2025, that claimed the lives of two of his close friends, Sina ‘Evolve’ Ghami and Abdul Lateef ‘Latz.

On Thursday, January 8, 2026, AJ wrote: "Thank you for all the love and care you have shown my brothers. I didn’t even realise how special they are. I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men. 100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents. I have a strong mind, and I believe God knows their hearts. May God have mercy on my brothers."

Former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua was badly shaken in the fatal road traffic accident, but only suffered minor injuries, spending two days in a Nigerian hospital before being discharged on December 31, 2025.

Tragically, his two friends, who were both longterm members of his team, were pronounced dead on the scene. The group were holidaying in Nigeria, a country Joshua spent much of his childhood growing up in. Their car was travelling along the busy and notoriously dangerous Lagos-Ibadan expressway, making their way from Lagos to AJ's family home, when the driver lost control of the jeep and crashed into a stationary truck. The chauffeur has since been charged on four counts and remanded until his trial on January 20.

A funeral prayer service for Sina Ghami and Abdul Lateef was held at the London Central Mosque on Sunday, January 4, 2026.

Speaking to Nigerian UFC star, Kamaru Usman, on the phone earlier today, AJ admitted that, “It still hasn’t sunk in, it still hasn’t hit me yet.”

BBN would once more like to express their deepest condolences to Sina and Abdul's family and friends.
