On an electrifying night of championship boxing, Japanese monarch Yamato Hata (19-2-1, 17 KOs) successfully defended his Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) Super Featherweight crown, overcoming number-one ranked contender and fellow countryman Tsubasa Narai (18-3, 12 KOs) via a razor-thin majority decision.
The iconic Korakuen Hall in the Japanese capital provided the perfect backdrop for this high-stakes clash on July 4th, hosted under the prestigious TEIKEN promotional banner. From the opening bell, both warriors engaged in a highly strategic battle filled with constant exchanges, thoroughly delivering on the fans’ high expectations.
After 10 intense rounds of non-stop action, the official judges’ scorecards reflected just how close and hard-fought the contest was: Katsuhiko Nakamura and Nobuto Ikehata both turned in identical scores of 96-94 in favor of the champion, while Kasutoshi Yoshida scored the bout a 95-95 draw.
With the official Majority Decision (MD 2-0) result, Yamato Hata firmly holds onto his throne in the OPBF 130-pound division, successfully passing his toughest test yet against the organization’s mandatory challenger.
The bout was officiated in the ring by referee Takeru Okaniwa, while the entire event was overseen by veteran supervisor Tsuyoshi Yasukochi, ensuring the success and integrity of this major international boxing card.
