UK's youngest boxer Callum Dan calls next title fight "a risk"
The youngest professional boxer in England right now is Callum Dan (7-0, 6 KOs), 17 from Portsmouth. The teenager will challenge for the OPBF Youth super-middleweight title at the World Siam Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand on July 25.
The youngster has built up a seven-fight unbeaten record after 15 months in the pro ranks, fighting abroad, and now he goes up against his hardest test yet.
His next opponent is older, bigger, far more experienced, and gets the home advantage on fight night.
Poramin Saengpak (23-15, 18 KOs) is 21 from Thailand, and has more KOs than Dan has had fights. In fact, Saengpak has completed 101 more rounds than Dan has.
As Callum Dan heads into his eighth pro bout, this will serve as Saengpak's seventh title fight.
Despite the differtence in experience, British boxer Dan has already been defeating 49-fight veterans when he was still 16-years-old. He also defeated a top-10 ranked fighter in India in his last fight, so the Pompey puncher is showing a maturity beyond his years and a skillset of a champion.
Guided by Marine Pro Boxing, Dan's plan is build up his pro record abroad, whilst under he is still under the age limit set by the British Boxing Board of Control, then fight in England after his 18th birthday.
