Tyson Fury backs Derek Chisora to trump Deontay Wilder as pair are set for 2026 showdown

Deontay Wilder vs Derek Chisora is almost official

It may not be the fight the world was expecting, but Deontay Wilder (44-4-1, 43 KOs) is planning to make his ring return in 2026. 

It was widely speculated that he would step in against Oleksandr Usyk, with the Ukrainian champion extremely keen to see the fight come to fruition. 

However, he has instead chosen to pursue a British opponent in Derek Chisora (36-13, 23 KOs). 

The contract is yet to be finalised, but the clash is touted for April, with a location for the heavyweight veterans not yet decided. 

Both men are in the twilight of their careers. “The Bronze Bomber’ has looked past his explosive best of late, with two losses in his last three fights. 

On the other side of the coin, Chisora has enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence, racking up three wins in a row, with his most recent coming over Otto Wallin on February 8, 2025. 

Following his triumph, the 42-year-old revealed he would like one last dance, planning to call it quits after his 50th career fight.

Tyson Fury knows both fighters better than most, having fought the pair a combined 6-times, avoiding defeat on all occasions. 

Taking to Instagram, ‘The Gypsy King - who is also making a comeback - revealed who he is backing to come out on top if the fight is to go ahead. 

“I’m gonna go with my boy, War Chisora for a stoppage.”

“I think this is a great fight,” Fury continued. “I fought both of these men three times each and I think it’s a very, very good fight.
