Turki Alalshikh confirms Tyson Fury will be back in 2026

His Excellency Turki Alalshikh dropped a bombshell earlier today, July 2, revealing that Tyson Fury has promised to fight again in 2026.

Turki tweeted: "The 'Gypsy King' will be back!!! I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026... ???? We have a rabbit to hunt! ????????"

The phrase "we have a rabbit to hunt" would immediately assume he is referring to Oleksandr Usyk, who Tyson often calls rabbit. However, it could just as easily mean that they are out hunting for another opponent too.

Tyson Fury has been telling the media recently that he wants the third fight with Usyk to complete their trilogy. So far, he is one of the only heavyweight world champions to have completed two trilogies - with Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora. Muhammad Ali fought Joe Frazier and Ken Norton three times each.

If "The Gypsy King" completed the trilogy with Usyk, it would probably set a new boxing record.

Fury felt like he won both bouts against the Ukrainian, but the results were a split decision win to Usyk in fight one in May 2024, then he was decisioned unanimously in the rematch in December the same year.

The first fight, arguably, could have been scored either way, but the ninth-round knockdown rightfully swung it to the unbeaten Usyk.

The rematch, however, was far more conclusive, with Fury getting off to a good start before Usyk got into his rhythm from the sixth round onwards, really taking the fight to Tyson, actively trying to knock him out. The scores of 116-112 x3 appeared to be wide, but there were very few arguments at the time.

A third fight with Usyk all depends on the outcome of the unified heavyweight champion's showdown with IBF king Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium this month, July 19.

The pair collide in the first-ever undisputed heavyweight match to take place on UK soil.

Many are backing the Brit to do the business, after finding fine form knocking out Jarrell Miller, Filip Hrgovic and Anthony Joshua within nine months of each other.

However, they have fought before, in August 2026, and Usyk dominated the unified heavyweight championship to drop Dubois in rounds eight and nine, the fight ending when the Brit decided to stay down on one knee.

Usyk is odds-on favourite to become a two-time undisputed heavyweight champion, with IBF titlist Dubois a 16/5 underdog at the time of writing.

If Usyk wins, Tyson could appear to be first in line to accept the challenge, despite the queue of contenders lining up. If Dubois wins, then shared promoter Frank Warren would waste no time in setting up the two of them next.
