The clash between Ryan Garcia and Luke Campbell has been rescheduled after Luke Campbell's positive coronavirus test

Ryan Garcia's clash with Luke Campbell has been rescheduled for early 2021, after the fight was initially cancelled due to Luke Campbell coming back with a positive test for Covid-19 ruling him out of their proposed bout on December 5th.

The clash has now been rescheduled for January 2nd with the fight part of DAZN's global broadcasting launch in the late stanza of 2020, and early part of 2021.

The fight was to take place at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio, California on a card broadcast by DAZN, with the WBC interim lightweight title at stake.

Garcia, the 22-year-old WBC Silver Lightweight Champion (20-0, 17 KOs), has not fought since he knocked out Francisco Fonseca in the first round in February.

Olympic gold medallist Campbell is coming off a decision loss in a great fight against WBC franchise champion Vasyl Lomachenko of Ukraine in London in August of last year.

Garcia has been highly touted as the future of boxing, but Campbell is experienced, gutsy and wily, and many believe experience could conquer youth in this contest.

The pair have been set to face for a large chunk of the year but negotiations have been tough as a result of the pandemic, with an initial agreement being reached in August between Matchroom Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions.
