London’s legendary Repton Boxing Club secures major investment to transform facilities

Government-backed Better Youth Spaces grant and funding from the Powerday Foundation will help create state-of-the-art facilities for 100 new young members

Repton Boxing Club - the oldest and most decorated amateur boxing club in the United Kingdom – has announced a landmark transformation of its facilities in Bethnal Green that will be delivered thanks to funding received from the Government’s Better Youth Spaces programme and the Powerday Foundation.

The investment will fund the complete renovation of the club’s changing rooms, showers and youth meeting spaces, and enable Repton Boxing Club to welcome 100 new young participants aged eight to 18 through extended opening hours and new tailored sessions.

Founded over 130 years ago and based in the heart of East London, ‘The Repton’ has produced more than 300 National Champions, 150 England Internationals, seven World Champions - including Darren Barker, Sunny Edwards, Charlie Edwards and Daniel Dubois - and Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison. This latest investment ensures its world-class legacy continues to serve future generations of young Londoners.

The Better Youth Spaces programme is a £30.5 million capital grants initiative, funded by the UK Government and administered by Social Investment Business. Designed to deliver fast-paced, tangible improvements for young people, the fund supports small-scale capital projects that help youth organisations in some of England’s most under-served communities better support the young people in their care.

The Powerday Foundation - the charitable arm of Powerday, a London-based independent waste management and recycling company – was founded in 2011 to improve the lives of young Londoners through sports, education, and employment opportunities. For over a decade, it has channelled funding, resources, and expertise into boxing clubs and grassroots organisations throughout the capital.
