Isle of Man's Sam Rennie aims to make more boxing history in second title challenge

Sam Rennie returns for another title challenge at Thunderdome 53

On Friday, March 13, Isle of Man's super-featherweight prospect Sam Rennie (7-0, 5 KOs) fights for a title on the Dragon Fire Boxing extravaganza at the Metro City Arena, titled 'Thunderdome 53'.

The undefeated 23-year-old British boxer challenges for the ANBF Australasian Super Featherweight title against 18-fight veteran Shamal Ram Aunj, now based in Central Coast, New South Wales, Australia.

Now residing in Sydney, Sam Rennie opened up about the second title contest of his two-year pro career, “Camp has gone great! Ross [trainer] has been putting in serious graft with me, it’s by far the hardest I’ve ever worked in camp.”

In May 2025, Rennie knocked out Asyer Aluman in the third round to be crowned WBC Silver Australasian Super Featherweight champion. He now aims to win another belt at the weight in his first fight of the year, which will further make boxing history for the Isle of Man, a self-governing island in the Irish Sea with a population of just 85,000.

“Again, making big noise for my country getting a second belt after nine months ago becoming the island's first ever champion , now I’m about to become a two-time champion, it’s moments a kid dreams of!” Rennie enthused.

Sam continued to say, “I’ve been sparring Jackson England and training alongside him, unbelievable experience and the knowledge he shares with me is priceless!

“My message to my opponent: I’ll see you in the middle of the ring for a great fight!”
