Carl Froch teases incredible return from retirement against UFC star

Former unified super middleweight champion Carl Froch is in talks about a return more than a decade on from retirement. 

The British boxing legend last fought 13 years ago – knocking out George Groves in their Wembley Stadium rematch.

However, he has recently been called out by another combat sports legend who has decided to try their luck in the ring. 

Ex-UFC star, Darren Till has been enjoying his time in the square circle, racking up three wins as part of the Misfits promotion. 

His most recent win came over Luke Rockhold, a fellow UFC veteran who recently made the switch to boxing. 

However, the Merseyside man is clearly looking for a bigger challenge and believes Carl Froch is the man for the job. 

Speaking on his podcast, Froch appears enticed by the idea. 

"Do I need it? Do I really want it? No and no.

"But I just thought I'd get the opinion of people that I respect. 

"So I spoke to Rob McCracken, my old coach. And the feedback was positive, more positive than I thought it would be. 

"I actually broke contact with Eddie Hearn [as well]. So there's a little bit more to develop on that front.

"I've also been speaking to Kalle Sauerland, who's really keen because he obviously promotes Misfits and he's close with Mams Taylor.

"And [I've] spoken to family, friends and whatever. And I'm not writing it off.

"I’m having a little look in the gym… When I get back [from Canelo vs Crawford], I’m going to see what’s developed, see how the landscape lies. 

"There’s potential. The thought of getting the old band back together for one last dance, I’ve got to be honest, it’s appealing."  

Till struggled towards the end of his career in the octagon, facing particular difficulty when the fight was on the floor.

In a jab at his potential opponent, Froch questioned whether his tendency to tap out showcases a lack of determination when the going gets tough. 

The last time that I looked, the last time that I watched a bit of Darren Till in the ring, he was tapping out and getting choked out himself like a little b***h. "He taps out really fast as well. "He’s not like my mate Michael Bisping, who gets choked by GSP [Georges St-Pierre] and he refuses to tap, he goes out on his shield.
