BREAKING: Anthony Joshua to fight Jake Paul on December 19

Well, the rumours were true. Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KO’s) and Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KO’s) have officially reached an agreement for a huge Miami meeting this December. 

It had previously been reported that the pair were in the final stages of negotiations, but today, Netflix have officially confirmed the speculation. 

The fight is scheduled to take place over eight rounds, contested in 10-oz gloves at heavyweight, with the fight to be streamed live on Netflix. 

Paul had originally been scheduled to go to war against Gervonta Davis on November 15, but following a civil lawsuit filed against the lightweight fighter, Jake Paul was left looking for a replacement.

While Davis is a bona fide professional and a former world champion in his own right, ‘AJ’ will bring forth a whole host of new challenges and dangers for the controversial internet personality turned boxer. 

"This isn't an AI simulation. This is Judgment Day," Paul stated.

"A professional heavyweight fight against an elite world champion in his prime. When I beat Anthony Joshua, every doubt disappears, and no one can deny me the opportunity to fight for a world title.

"To all my haters, this is what you wanted. To the people of the United Kingdom, I am sorry. On Friday, December 19, under the lights in Miami, live globally only on Netflix, the torch gets passed and Britain's Goliath gets put to sleep.” 

Joshua last fought in September 2024, when he was brutalised by fellow Briton Daniel Dubois. ‘AJ’ was counted in the fifth round, and the loss reignited concerns over his seemingly fading chin and punch resistance. 

However, he remains one of the most devastating punchers in all of the heavyweight division, known for his elite counter-punching reflexes that led him to world title unification and a terrifying 25 stoppage wins. 

Speaking on the bout, Joshua seems keen to get back to action.

"I took some time out and I'm coming back with a mega show,” Joshua boasted.

“It's a big opportunity for me. Whether you like it or not, I'm here to do massive numbers, have big fights and break every record whilst keeping cool, calm and collected.

"Mark my words, you'll see a lot more fighters take these opportunities in the future. I'm about to break the internet over Jake Paul's face."
