The Miami Mismatch: Anthony Joshua set to fight Jake Paul in December

Jake Paul makes a risky decision

Anthony Joshua (28-4, 24 KO’s) and Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KO’s) have reportedly reached an agreement for a December 19 bout.

The showdown is set to be streamed live on Netflix, with the event taking place in Miami

The news comes in the fallout of the Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis disaster.

The pair were meant to meet on November 14, but the fight fell through with Davis finding himself wrapped up in a domestic violence lawsuit filed by his former girlfriend.

Now it seems Jake Paul has found a replacement, and his new opposition will present a wildly different kind of challenge.

Anthony Joshua is best known as the former unified heavyweight champion, and he bulldozed his way to the top of the division thanks to his devastating power. 

In a shock announcement a few weeks ago, promoter Eddie Hearn had revealed that ‘AJ’ would make his ring return before the end of 2025, though it was never expected that he would step in against ‘The Problem Child’.

The fight is expected to be completed under Queensbury rules, with the result going on each man's record, Hearn revealed. 

"No, not an exhibition. We're not interested in exhibitions. It's a real fight," he told Sky Sports.

"There's stuff to be resolved and discussed. It would be a real fight with Queensberry rules, 10-ounce gloves. The rounds would be agreed."

Despite a rocky couple of years in the ring for the British heavyweight star, he will be a firm favourite - with many expecting Paul would need a miracle to get past his destructive heavyweight foe in what is already being heralded as the ‘Miami Mismatch’

‘AJ’ survived just five rounds in his last outing, facing off against British rival Daniel Dubois in an attempt to regain his heavyweight crown. 

He was hurt early on, and this went from bad to worse as he found himself on the canvas multiple times during the shock showcase at Wembley. 

While there was hope of a resurgence, as he landed heavy on Dubois in the fifth, it proved futile, with the fallen giant finding himself on the canvas for a final time just seconds later.
