Anthony Joshua set for huge 2025 comeback

Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KO’s) has not laced up since September 2024, when AJ was brutally bruised and beaten by Daniel Dubois in a mammoth night for British boxing at the Wembley Arena.

Upon tasting defeat, Joshua was quick to reveal that this was by no means a retirement, stating that he will be back and the future looks bright.

However, it's been over a year now and with no concrete date for an AJ return set, fans have begun to wonder if they will ever see the British boxing phenom step back between the ropes.

Fortunately for fight fans, an AJ return appears imminent with Eddie Hearn revealing that the fighter will appear on one of three Matchroom cards set to be staged before the year's end, simply replying to the question “Yes”.

That leaves three possibilities for the heavyweight: November 15, December 13, and December 27. 

Unless Hearn has expertly kept Joshua’s status under wraps, it's near impossible that the former champion will be ready to step in on the undercard of a monumental November meeting between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.

That leaves the two December cards. December 13 sees Diego Pacheco take on Kevin Lele Sadjo in California, whilst the year is capped off on December 27 as Naoya Inoue tops the bill in Saudi Arabia. 

If he is to fight on one of the aforementioned events, it would be the first time AJ has not headlined a bill since devastating Kevin Johnson in 2015. 

With the fight not taking centre stage, it's unlikely the Brit will take on any established names, which has since been confirmed by Eddie Hearn on DAZN.

“All I’m saying is, if he fights this year, it will just be a ‘run out’ fight.

"Because, coming back and fighting in a big arena, in a tough fight after being out for a year and a half, it’s not easy.

"And it isn't about the money in this fight this year."
