Anthony Cacace and Leigh Wood preview their IBO world title clash
Queensberry Promotions presents ‘The Hurt Game’ tonight, May 10, at the Motorpoint Arena in Nottingham, where local hero and former two-time world featherweight champion Leigh Wood challenges reigning IBO world super-featherweight Anthony Cacace in a highly anticipated main event, live on DAZN.
The bookies odds for a draw are extraordinarily low, suggesting that these two rivals are very evenly-matched. Promoter Frank Warren has already passionately said that he believes this will be a fight of the year contender.
Both the headliners told DAZN their predictions for their fight tonight:
36-year-old southpaw Cacace predicted, "He'll definitely bring it at some stage, whether it be at the start, middle, or the end of the fight. But I believe that I've got just as much power as he has. I've got better boxing ability than him, I think."
The IBO world champion confidently added, "I can do what I want in this fight and end this fight the way I want to. So, I'm happy to see what happens."
35-year-old "Leigh-thal" Wood shared his belief that he will win the fight by knockout, "I do believe I'll get him out of there, I've said that many times. I'm confident that as long as I do what I set out to do and stick to my plan, I will be successful and get him out."
The former two-time world featherweight champion, trained by Ben Davison, reinforced his confidence that he'll win by KO, "By hook or by crook, where if I stick to what I've been doing in performing and hitting the moments I've hit in sparring and the drills I've been doing, like everything, when I put it all together, it's going to be a completely different fight to what people think".
Shared opponent Josh Warrington is backing "The Apache" to win, “It’ll be an interesting fight. I’m picking Cacace at this moment in time, Leigh has been out of the ring for a long time, obviously he’s moving up in weight, but Cacace has got some good form going for him at the minute. Leigh is tough and unless Cacace can go up a gear, I think Cacace will beat him on points.”
