Amir Khan believes William Scull should have won against Canelo

Canelo defeated William Scull last weekend via unanimous decision in a borefest that saw the pair throw the least amount of punches in any 12-round fight in history.

Combined, they threw just 445 punches, that equates to just 18.5 punches each per three-minute round.

WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman, had this to say about contest, "How sad to see the terrible performance of Cuban William Scull, who ran away and refused the fight! Cuban boxing is one of excellence and greatness, and what happened Saturday night was shameful, giving our sport a black eye."

Amir Khan claims that William Scull beat Canelo

Another boxing figure that had something to say about the undisputed super-middleweight contest was Amir Khan.

The British boxer fought Canelo in 2016 and, even though it ended in round six, the pair threw 336 punches within that shorter time.

Khan has his own view on the fight that he saw, sensationally believing that William Scull should have won, even though one scorecard read 119-109.

The 38-year-old Khan told BoxNation, “I had Scull winning that fight, he was the better mover, he boxed well, he should hold his head high, he put on a great performance.

“I thought Scull won by two rounds. Scull was making him miss and was catching him with some good shots. If you’re looking at who was landing the better shots, it was Scull with the cleaner shots and with power. Scull was throwing a lot more shots.”

Canelo became the undisputed super-middleweight champion for the second time with the 63rd victory of his career.
