World champion Nordine Oubaali travels to Japan to tackle Takuma Inoue but also wants older brother Naoya

World champion Nordine Oubaali has dismissed the idea he has a family vendetta against the Inoues

The undefeated French-Moroccan boxing icon (16-0, 12 KOs) travels to Japan to tackle Takuma Inoue (13-0, 3 KOs) on November 7 and has already been heavily linked with a colossal unification clash against Takuma’s older brother Naoya.

With Oubaali’s second defence taking place on the same bill as Naoya Inoue’s WBSS final against Nonito Donaire, a winner-meets-winner scenario may be in the offing but Oubaali insists he’s not fixated on Japan’s premier fighting family and simply wants to face the best.

Oubaali said: “This is not a vendetta against the Inoue brothers. I just want to box against the very best in my division out there to show I’m the best bantamweight in the world.

“Of course I want to fight the winner of the Super Series whether it’s Naoya Inoue or Nonito Donaire.

“I’m expecting a big atmosphere that night and I’m really excited about boxing in Japan because the public there really love their boxing and are very well educated on it.

“It’s a new audience for me and I can make sure I’m known all over Japan. I already have Japanese fans who send me messages of support. That’s a beautiful thing for me.

“The fans can expect a ‘Nine One Power’ on the night. I am going out to please the public by offering them a very explosive fight.”

Oubaali won the WBC crown with a clinical victory over America’s Rau’shee Warren and made a vicious maiden defence in stopping Arthur Villanueva on an #MTKFightNight in Kazakhstan last time out.
