Unbeaten Irishman Owen “Bomber” Corrigan previews light-heavyweight title fight against the “Mad Dog” at Thunderdome

Thunderdome 53: Owen Corrigan previews his light-heavyweight title challenge on March 13

On Friday, March 13, 2026, Dragon Fire Boxing hits the Metro City Arena for the first time this year for their title-filled Thunderdome 53 card.

One of the main events features rising prospect Owen “Bomber” Corrigan (4-0, 2 KOs) takes on Micah “Mad Dog” Rivetti (6-18, 2 KOs) for the Western Australian State light-heavyweight championship.

Unbeaten Irishman Corrigan opened up about his title challenge to the experienced New Zealand-born 'Mad Dog', “Training camp been great so far, no niggles or worries been feeling fresh throughout been working on both the body and mind. Feeling very confident at the moment.”

Aged 40, Gold Coast's Micah Rivetti has fought for a Queensland title once before and possesses six times the experience than 4-0 Corrigan currently has. Regardless, the Wicklow fighter is relishing the chance to fight for his first pro title, “It’s a surreal moment to say I’m fighting for a Western Australian title. I grew up dreaming of Irish and Celtic titles, obviously life throws different challenges at you and you find yourself emigrating; I left Dublin on the 11th of March and arrived in Western Australia on the 13th of March, subsequently three years to the day I find myself very proud to be a part of the community in Western Australia.

“The people, the state, the beaches, the city... everything about it, I’ve fallen deeply in love with. To become champion of the area and have my name and WA linked together forever, I’d be deeply proud of.”

Rivetti hasn't won in any of his last seven contests, but Corrigan is preparing for the very best version of the man named 'Mad Dog', “I’ve sparred some very good boxers in preparation, obviously I’ve watched my opponent and picked sparring partners that are similar. Been sparring everyone from middleweights to heavyweights, some of the rounds people should be charged to watch because they have been fire!”

Corrigan concluded, “Best of luck to my opponent, listen I’m not gonna talk any crap, end of day we both have two arms two legs and have our own reasons to be fighting we are going to leave it all in the ring.”
