Unbeaten Blaine Williams eyeing Midlands Area super-lightweight title

Blaine Williams training for title fights so he's always ready for the call

Blaine Williams (2-0) is focusing on refining his skills ahead of his third professional bout on BCB Promotions' "Brawl At The Hall" on March 28th at the Dudley Town Hall.

The 30-year-old super-lightweight from Selly Oak finished 2024 strongly, beginning with a successful points victory in his debut against Santiago Garces at the same venue in July. He followed this up in October in Wolverhampton with another decisive points win against Josh Morris, not losing a round in either contest.

“It's another great show to be on,“ said Blaine Williams. “I've been working on improving and developing as a professional, training six times a week, twice a day. After my last fight, I didn't take any break; I wanted to keep pushing.

“A significant part of our focus is on my flow, how I move in the ring, maintaining balance, and my footwork. We're learning how to manage rounds and continue building a strong foundation. The win was what we wanted, what we strive for, but I perhaps allowed him too much of an easy path at times during the fight, and I've learned a lot from that.”

Blaine, who trains under coach Mitchell Pearce at Dudley's Priory Boxing Club, entered the professional ranks relatively late and understands that consistent activity is crucial to his success. While this will be his third consecutive four-round bout, he has already been increasing his training distances in preparation for potential title opportunities in the near future.

“That's exactly what I want. The Midlands Area title would be fantastic, but I'd pursue any title opportunity that comes my way. I want to win it not just for myself, but to bring it back to the gym so the amateur kids can see what we represent and what they can aspire to.

“We've had brief discussions about it as we are focusing on this fight and still learning but I have been sparring six and eight rounds, so I'm staying ready for that call.”

The stacked card also features unbeaten Midlands Area Featherweight champions Sian O'Toole and Ryan Griffiths, former Midlands Area Welterweight challenger Liam Gould, Tom Brennan, and the professional debut of Jacob Lloyd.
