Two-time world heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist, George Foreman has sadly passed away at the age of 76.
"Big George" became the oldest boxer to ever win a heavyweight title at the age of 45, competing for 30 years between 1969-1997. The Hall of Famer won an Olympic gold medal at the 1968 Mexico City Games.
He became the WBC and WBA world heavyweight champion in 1973 when he knocked out Joe Frazier in two rounds in Jamaica, aged 24. He became a two-time world heavyweight champion over 2o years later when KO'd Michael Moorer in 1994 to win the WBA and IBF titles.
He originally retired in 1997 after losing to Jimmy Young, but returned 10 years later in 1987 and had another 34 fights.
The Ring Magazine considered the Texan one of the 25 greatest fighters of all-time. He had 10 children, five of which were sons, all named George.
His family released a statement to say that he passed peacefully on March 21, 2025.
