Pamela Noutcho Sawa and Karen Carabajal will fight for vacant IBO world lightweight title

Pamela Noutcho Sawa and Karen Carabajal clash for IBO world lightweight strap

Pamela Noutcho Sawa (9-0, 2 KOs) and Karen Carabajal (25-2, 4 KO) are set to clash for the vacant IBO world lightweight title that previously belonged to Caroline Dubois.

The event is promoted by Mario Loreni's Promo Boxe Italia and Bolognina Boxe.

33-year-old Italian, Sawa, is unbeaten since her pro debut in May 2022. So far, Sawa has had five six-rounders, followed by a quartet of 10-round championship contests.

She won the Italian lightweight title in her seventh contest, then she outscored Englishwoman Jordan Barker Porter to win the EBU Silver belt, then she naturally progressed to the European crown with a UD win in October 2024, defending the belt in April this year via first-round knockout.

Carabajal, 35 from Argentina, has won her last three on the spin, picking up the Argentinian and WBO Latino titles.

Her last two defeats came at the hands of Briton Rhiannon Dixon and Irishwoman Katie Taylor. Dixon defeated Carabajal in April 2024 via unanimous decision to lift the vacant WBO world lightweight title. Irish superstar and two-weight undisputed champion, Taylor, also unanimous decisioned Carabajal in an undisputed lightweight match in London in October 2022, with the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring titles on the line.

During her 12-year-plus pro career, Carabajal has won WBC Latino, Argentinian, South American titles at super-featherweight, as well as Argentinian and WBC Latino belts at lightweight.
