Oscar De La Hoya gleefully slams Canelo Alvarez’s loss to Terence Crawford

Oscar De La Hoya did not hold back regarding Canelo’s recent loss

Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya is not known for keeping his opinions to himself. 

And he has wasted no time in taking to the internet to reveal his enthusiasm following Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s (63-3-2, 39 KO’s) recent undisputed defeat to Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford (42-0, 31 KO’s).

“God, it makes me horny to tell you ‘I told you so,’ De La Hoya revealed on Fight Hype. ”I predicted the Canelo vs Crawford fight like a goddamn fortune teller. 

“Canelo’s feet were cemented on the canvas as he was hitting air. What the f-ck was that? Props to Crawford, he came up three weight classes and fought a beautiful fight, what a great performance. Like taking candy from a baby, he just played with Canelo, made him look silly.”

Canelo and De La Hoya’s rocky relationship has long been documented, with the pair parting ways in 2020, with the Mexican star suing his former promoter for ‘breach of contract’ amongst numerous other allegations.

“And before you start with your bullsh-t about Canelo being old, just know that Crawford is older,” the Golden Boy head stated.

“That is not an excuse here. Look, I promoted Canelo’s entire career and it was a huge fluff. The only real fighters he faced was Mayweather, Bivol, and Crawford and they all toyed with him.”

“Even Mayweather knew Crawford was going to school him. He put $50K on Crawford to win.”

The former champion wasn't done there. Going on to criticise the event as a whole, claiming that the undercard was nowhere near the level it should be for an event of this magnitude.

 “And as far as the undercard…I feel bad for Turki wasting all that money.

“You have to fire your matchmakers, Turki. It was the biggest fight of the decade and your matchmakers, not you, your matchmakers put on that undercard? 

“You paid all that money and had the biggest stage in boxing on Netflix and that was really the best you could do?! If I was matchmaking I would have put Sheeraz vs Benavidez as a co-main event with the winner fighting the winner of Canelo vs Crawford next. That’s how you promote…”
