Oleksandr Usyk reveals his Mount Rushmore of boxers
Oleksandr Usyk lists his top four fighters
In an interview with Matchroom Boxing, two-weight undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk revealed a list of his four favourite fighters of all-time.
The incredible Ukrainian is currently in the midst of negotiations with IBF champ Daniel Dubois for a stadium showdown in London this summer.
However, the WBO have just thrown a spanner in the works by naming their Interim champion, Joseph Parker, as their mandatory challenger, and ordering the two teams to agree terms within 30 days.
While all this plays out, Usyk is ticking over and answering questions on who his Mount Rushmore of boxers would be:
- Muhammad Ali
- Vasiliy Lomachenko
- Terence Crawford
- Klitschko brothers - Wladimir and Vitali
Muhammad Ali
Probably the most recognisable name in boxing history, Muhammad Ali appears first in Usyk's list.
In fact, "The Greatest" often appears in the top 10 of most boxing lists when ranking the best boxers in history. In SportsBoom's list, the three-time heavyweight champion is placed at #2.
Ali not only achieved greatness in the ring, he transcended the sport of boxing outside of it with his famous trash-talking and hilarious antics.
Vasiliy Lomachenko
Usyk's compatriot Vasiliy Lomachenko quite possibly has the greatest amateur record and career of all-time, winning 396 from 397 bouts, collecting seven golds, plus one silver at major championships.
As a pro, he broke more records by becoming the fastest two-weight world champion in history and equalling the record for a three-weight champ.
Terence Crawford
Similarly to Usyk, "Bud" is a two-weight undisputed world champion, one of only three in history. Usyk is one of them and the Japanese monster, Naoya Inoue, is the other.
Klitschko brothers - Wladimir and Vitali
These two Ukrainian brothers dominated the heavyweight boxing scene during the early 2000s.
Wlad holds records for the longest cumulative heavyweight title reign of all time, with 4,382 days as world heavyweight champion, and most fighters beaten for the world heavyweight championship, at 23.
In 2011, both Wladimir and Vitali entered the Guinness World Records book as brothers with most world heavyweight title fight wins - 30 at the time; 40 as of 2020.
