Moses Jolly previews Boma Brown fight on March 21

If you are looking for a new heavyweight hero, you might find him on a roof in South Wales. That’s where Moses Jolly spends his days.

The day job is funding a pro boxing career that reaches a pivotal night in Bristol on Saturday, March 21.

Jolly meets muscular puncher Boma Brown (5-1) over 10 rounds at The Galleries – and the 11-0 (8) Welshman says he takes his blueprint for the fight from ‘The Greatest.’

“I want to make it like the Cassius Clay-Cleveland Williams fight,” said Jolly, remembering Clay’s three-round KO in November, 1966.

“Cleveland was a solid hitter and Clay barely got hit, put on a show and then knocked him out.”
Jolly was set to box in front of the BBC cameras in Cardiff next month before it fell through and the 30 year old said: “I’m not annoyed because I understand the boxing business can be tricky.

“I'm very lucky to have an experienced management team headed by Mickey Helliet who came back to me almost immediately after the original bout fell through with this vastly better fight for me.

“My proposed opponent for the original fight got knocked out in just over a minute and I'd be confident I would have done the job even quicker.

“Now I want to knock out Boma Brown to show that I belong on the big TV shows!

“It's funny how sometimes one opportunity can fall through but that then opens the door for an even more exciting challenge. I am now boxing a much higher rated opponent and I'm ready for the step up.

“I still work as a roofer between fights which keeps me in the gym and provides for my family and I’m grateful to be in that position.

“The weather is beautiful and it allows me to follow my passion.

“People often comment that they love the authenticity of my career and I am loving it too.

“I love doing a great job for people so they are keen to have me back!"

Brown has had more exposure in his pro career.

From London, Brown fought out of Birmingham as an amateur and turned pro out of the Everton Red Triangle gym after family commitments took him to the North West.

That move opened doors at Queensberry Promotions and Brown has fought on a couple of their shows.
Brown had three stoppages in his first five fights before being narrowly outpointed by Will Howe last October and Jolly said: “I know he’s big, strong and coming to take my head off– and that excites me.

“I know I’m ready.

“Skill wise, mentally and spiritually, I’m there, I’m ready. Now I want to prove I’m right to have my beliefs. I practise to be world champion."
