Moses Itauma may get a world title shot: ‘If the terms are right’

Moses Itauma might have found his next opponent

Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KO’s) is the man of the hour in the heavyweight scene. The 20-year-old is undefeated as a professional and has remained mostly untested, with 11 of his 13 wins coming by stoppage.

His most recent outing saw him dismantle Dillian Whyte within a round, leaving many wondering whether the youngster is ready to be put to the test at the highest level. 

However, with Oleksandr Usyk tied up with an imminent Fabio Wardley showdown - and having stated he has little interest in a clash with Itauma - it had looked like the Brit would be made to wait for a title chance. 

However, it has recently been revealed that WBA ‘regular’ title holder Kubrat Pulev (32-3, 14 KO’s)  would be open to a showdown with heavyweight's hottest property.

"Kubrat Pulev would be open to a WBA title defence against Moses Itauma, if Moses is ready and willing to take that fight," Pulev's promoter John Wirt told Sky Sports.

"Kubrat is a proud champion; he has accepted all challenges during his career, and he will fight Moses if the terms are right."

Pulev’s title is the WBA’s secondary championship, with the ‘super’ strap currently held by the undisputed Ukrainian heavyweight kingpin. 

Pulev is a seasoned contender, having faced off against the likes of Wladimir Klitschko and Anthony Joshua over his 16-year career.

Moses Itauma is yet to respond to the opportunity. He had been scheduled to make his ring return in December, but after difficulty finding a willing opponent, it’s been slated that we wouldn’t see the Kent-based star step back between the ropes until early 2026.
