Jackson Chauke defeats Mehdi Abdurashedov to win WBC International flyweight title

Jackson Chauke dusts off Russian Mehdi Abdurashedov

South African veteran Jackson Chauke (18-1-1, 14 KOs), 34-years-old, surprised onlookers by outpointing 20-year-old Russian Mehdi Abdurashedov (6-0, 3 KOs), snatching away his WBC International flyweight belt.

The fight, which was televised by Boets TV for all of Russia and part of Europe, was competitive, with a young Abdurahedov trying to punish his rival, who was 14-years his senior, but Chauke relied on his greater experience to counteract the attacks and eventually achieve victory by decision.

The contest took place at the Uvais Akhtaev Sports Palace in Grozny, Russia, which served Chauke with his first fight outside of his native country.

Jackson is the current South African Flyweight champion, winning the title on his second attempt,and currently defending the honours once successfully in July this year.
