Aydemir wins WBC Mediterranean title in Germany

This Saturday at the MCN Event Halle, from Neuwied, Germany, German resident and Turkish prospect, Ilhami Aydemir (18-1-0, 12 KOs), defeated Belgian Ahmed El Hamwi (19-10-2, 1 KO), to be crowned Mediterranean welterweight champion of the World Boxing Council.

It was an entertaining fight, in which there was an alternate dominance of both fighters. At the end of the fourth round the scores from the three judges were 38-38. The outcome came at the end of the sixth segment when 27-year-old Aydemir forced the 35-year-old French resident to retire after losing two rounds in succession.

The card was presented by Aydemir Promotions with all the safety and health measures to protect the well-being of those involved. The supervisor was WBC Vice President Houcine Houichi.

In other bouts, Andy Hoeschler defeated Radek Geissmann by TKO in the first round, and Alexandru Jur defeated Jiri Svacina by decision over six-rounds.
