Fight Preview
Fury returns from retirement once again. He faces the Russian 'Lion' Makhmudov after a 16-month hiatus, which last saw him losing back-to-back world title clashes with two-time undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
Prior to that, Fury had scored four consecutive KOs against Deontay Wilder twice, Dillian Whyte and Derek Chisora, before showing his unprofessionalism in a split decision win over debutant Francis Ngannou, failing to take the fight with the UFC champion seriously and paying the price in the third round when he was embarrassingly knocked down.
That was followed by two losses to Usyk during 2024. Their first match would have been scored a draw if it wasn't for a ninth-round knockdown costing Fury the fight. The rematch was more conclusive, with Usyk deservingly taking a unanimous decision win.
Makhmudov comes into the biggest fight of his pro career following a unanimous decision win over Doncaster's Dave Allen in October 2025, but he was pushed all the way and took a bit of a bruising.
The 36-year-old from Mozdok has lost twice, firstly to now-WBC Interim champion Agit Kabayel, stopped in four rounds in 2023 after taking too many body shots. Then, he was outgunned by the faster Italian, Guido Vianello, in 2024, the doctor calling off the fight after eight rounds because Makhmudov's left eye had closed shut.
Both boxers have lost twice in their last five fights, setting up a showdown with similar stories, however, Fury is far and away the bookies favourite.

Tim Rickson, BBN Editor: "Makhmudov is a big and intimidating, but also cumbersome and hittable. Agit Kabayel dropped him three times with body shots to stop him in four and Guido Vianello closed his eye shut with consistent head shots after eight rounds. He is especially susceptible to an uppercut, which is the shot Tyson KO'd Dillian Whyte with in 2022. But Fury hasn't knocked anyone out in over three years, so there's a strong chance this could go to points. However, if Tyson is sharp and spiteful, he has a full 12-rounds against a very available target, so I am backing him to win by KO in rounds 7-12. I know Makhmudov is going to be up for this and I believe he will let his hands go and be aggressive, so he should give a great showing, but I can't help but think he will become target practice for Tyson."
