Unified champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) meets IBF titlist William Scull (23-0, 9 KOs) in an undisputed super-middleweight match this weekend.
The Cinco de Mayo weekends is jam packed full of fights, with three top events scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, starting with Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia in New York on Friday, followed by Canelo-Scull on Saturday, then Naoya Inoue to close the show on Sunday.

Four-weight world champion, first-ever undisputed super-middleweight champion in a four-belt era, second boxer in history (behind Henry Armstrong) to hold world titles in three different divisions simultaneously, 2019 and 2021 Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year... there's no end to the accolades or superlatives that can be used for this future Hall of Famer, Canelo.
In stark contrast, William Scull is relatively unknown. The Cuban is 32, based in Germany, and is the current IBF champion at 168lbs. "El Indomable" won the vacant title against unbeaten Russian Vladimir Shishkin in October last year, after Canelo relinquished the belt to fight Edgar Berlanga instead of his mandatory, Scull.
The Berlin-based boxer is a cagey, defensive fighter whose favourite shot is the overhand right, however, it doesn't carry a lot of power.
Interestingly, both boxers last knockout wins came at the same time in November 2021 and they have each scored five unanimous decision results since, so their recent records are identical.
However, Canelo has actually dropped his last four foes and only one from his last eight opponents hasn't hit the deck against him, which was the formidable Kazakh, Gennadiy Golovkin.
With 66 bouts, 508 rounds, 20 years as a pro, Canelo is vastly more experienced than Scull and that will tell during their championship contest. The Mexican monster may take a few rounds to track down the cagey Cuban, but when he does, the writing will be on the wall.
