Brooklyn boxer Bruce “Shu Shu” Carrington (17-0, 10 KOs) became the WBC Interim Featherweight World Champion by defeating Mateus Heita in July 2025 in New York. In his very next fight, he claimed the vacant WBC crown with a ninth-round KO of Carlos Castro.
29-year-old Carrington remains undefeated after 17 bouts as he prepares for his maiden world title defence to an unbeaten challenger.
René “Zurdo” Palacios will receive his first opportunity to fight for a WBC world title.
Mexico’s Palacios has a professional record of 19 victories, with 10 wins coming by knockout.
In his last fight, the 25-year-old from Chihuahua won the NABF featherwieght belt. This will be just his third fight in the States.
