The path to glory and the weight of family heritage intersect on the horizon for British contender Conor Benn, who has his sights firmly set on the World Boxing Council world welterweight championship, to realize and fulfill his dynasty.

The legacy of the Benns added a golden chapter, with the induction of the legendary Nigel Benn into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, New York, as part of the class of 2026. Nigel reigned as the WBC super middleweight champion for four years, successfully defending his crown on nine occasions. The WBC even rank him in their top 5 super-middleweight champions of all-time.

This historic trajectory has been the driving force propelling his son Conor to seek the same belt that once belonged to Dad.

“My dad is a legend, not just in the ring, but out of the ring,” expressed an emotional Conor Benn. “If I am anything like my dad, if I achieve half of what my dad achieved, I will be a very happy man. He is my hero, I adore him.”

Benn (25-1, 14 KO’s), 29 years old and originally from Essex, England, is currently ranked as the number one contender in the welterweight division by the WBC. In his most recent performance on April 11 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, Benn defeated former two-time 140-pound world champion Regis Prograis by unanimous decision in ten rounds.

The goal for Benn has a first and last name: Ryan Garcia (25-2, 20 KO’s, 1 NC).

The fighter from Victorville, California, captured the WBC world welterweight championship on February 21 in Las Vegas by defeating Mario Barrios by unanimous decision, whom he sent to the canvas in the first 30 seconds of the bout to seal the most important victory of his career.

'KingRy' Garcia himself announced in May during his appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that he plans to defend his crown against Benn later this year.

Benn assured: “The goal for me is to get the WBC world title. It is a belt I have dreamed of achieving since I was a kid. It is the belt my dad won. That belt is mine; Ryan, I am taking it, and there is nothing you can do to prevent it.”
