Frank Martin announces return fight and calls out Richardson Hitchins

The former 135-pound fighter is set to make 140-pound debut on December 6

Following his knockout defeat to boxing superstar Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28KO) in 2024, Frank "The Ghost" Martin (19-1, 12KO) has hinted at a return fight in the 140-pound division in an interview with Fight Hype which would mark the end of his 17-month ring inactivity.

The man from Michigan told Fight Hype: “I’m finally back December 6 I’m ready I’m excited, I’m ready to go out there and wake everybody back up everybody was sleeping on me.”

The 30-year-old added: “I feel like a lot of people sh----d on me after my loss so I’m back and ready to show everybody what I’ve been working on.”

Martin is scheduled to take on Rance Barthelemy (30-3-1, 15KO) in a 10-round fight he hopes will help him to get back into the world rankings, with plans to contend for a world championship against names like Richardson Hitchins who is the reigning IBF World Super Lightweight Champion.

Martin told Fight Hype when asked about a potential matchup with Hitchins: “I like that fight if they were able to make that fight then I like that fight”.

The southpaw added: “Once I get this fight out the way and get back up in the rankings, I’m going to get a big name, I’m going to get one of them Champions”.

The American’s opponent, Barthelemy will have the experience on Martin, with the 39-year-old Cuban starting his professional career in 2009, which could be a major factor in this fight, set to take place at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio Texas and will be a preliminary fight on a card which will see Isaac Cruz and Lamont Roach main event, live on Prime video.
