Denis Lebedev rejects retirement to meet Thabiso Mchunu for the WBC Silver cruiserweight crown

Lebedev and Mchunu will dispute WBC Silver title

Russian Denis Lebedev, a prominent cruiserweight is readying to fight South African veteran Thabiso Mchunu on December 21 at the Ivan Yarygin Sports Palace in Krasnoyarsk, Russia.

Lebedev (32-2, 23 KO), who announced his retirement last July, has since decided that he still has a lot to give boxing, even at 40, so he will seek to win the cruiserweight version of the World Boxing Council Silver Belt.

His rival Mchunu (21-5, 13 KO), ranked 8 by the WBC, has had memorable fights against Ilunga Makabu, Oleksandr Usyk and  Olanrewaju Durodola.
