Cecilia Braekhus prepared for a 'hell of a fight' against Jessica McCaskill

Cecilia Baekhus defends undisputed welterweight crown against Jessica McCaskill in Tulsa on Saturday

Undisputed welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus (36-0 9 KOS) believes she has what it takes to win against a dangerous opponent in Jessica McCaskill (8-2 3KOS) and knows that she will need to be at her best in order to gain victory in her return to action on Sunday.

The Norwegian remains undefeated in the Welterweight division winning 36 fights without defeat during her professional career to date, and remains the woman to beat in the welterweight division with a superb record throughout defeating the likes of Anne Mathis and Erica Anabella Farias.

With a period of dominance set to be challenged once again by the likes of McCaskill, the 'First Lady' has said that she feels in perfect shape to take hold of the contest from the first bell and continue her dominance in the division with a victory in the street fight in Tulsa.

When speaking at the Matchroom USA press conference she said: “This is going be a hell of a fight. I think everyone who knows our careers, fights, and how hard we work - they will know this will be a great fight. We have both been fighting since January, we both have been in camp, so we will see come Saturday that I’m in the best shape and form ever. 

The 38-year-old also believes her opponent will be extremely motivated to take the opportunity to seize the belts, but maintained that her skillset should be advanced enough to control the bout and continue to make history.

“Jessica’s hungry, she knows what doors can open if she beats me. I have seen her against Katie Taylor and gave her problems, so you know she’s hard working and dedicated. I feel I have better skills. I try not to focus on the record, I focus on my task in camp, but you know it would be huge. That’s a record that won’t be broken in quite a while.”

Brækhus is the first woman in any weight class to hold the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO titles simultaneously. She is also one of only seven boxers in history, female or male, to hold all four major world titles at the same time, and has a superb amateur pedigree winning 75 fights in the build up to her illustrious professional career.

Trained by Abel Sanchez, the pound for pound top fighter will sure to be tested by McCaskill, with her opponent sure to be a dangerous matchup having won several key fights in the build up to this clash including Erica Anabella Farias twice, and plans on spoiling the party in her own country.

Brækhus is notoriously known for dominating and winning most rounds of every contest she fights in, posessing a powerful and domineering style capable of unloading a barrage of damaging shots at any time.  McCaskill will need to potentially search for a knockout in order to win the bout against the Norwegian who will no doubt assert her control, should the fight go the distance.
