Brian 'BoMac' McIntyre reveals Terence Crawford's career will continue following Canelo victory

Terence Crawford will not be retiring anytime soon

Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford (42-0, 31 KO’s) put on a near-perfect boxing display on Saturday, as he outpointed Mexican legend Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (63-3-2, 39 KO’s) to be crowned as the modern era's only three-weight undisputed champion. 

The fight - which was streamed live on Netflix - saw the undefeated superstar put his back-foot boxing prowess on full display, as he consistently stayed out of danger, landing clean and precise counter punches on his stalking Mexican foe.

His win has catapulted the 37-year-old into the upper echelons of the sport, with comparisons being drawn between him and all-time pound-for-pound greats such as Floyd Mayweather. 

Now well into his late thirties, many have speculated that perhaps it's time for Crawford to protect what he's built and consider saying goodbye to the sport that has been so good to him. 

However, Bud’s trainer, Brian ‘BoMac’ McIntyre, has revealed that Crawford has no desire to hang up his gloves anytime soon. 

“You know what? We going to get back in the gym,” BoMac said to Fight Hype.

“We gonna get back in the gym and we’re going to assess that. Right now I just want him to go on vacation, have some fun, spend some time with his family ‘cause we trained for like probably a half a year for that fight. A lot of time spent away from home, a lot of time spent away from the family so I just want him to get back home.

Asked whether the pound-for-pound king will vacate his super middleweight belt, ‘BoMac’ was quick to dismiss the idea.

“No, we ain’t going to vacate the belts. We just going to sit where we need to sit for a minute and then, like I said, get back in the gym and do our thing”

It’s unclear what will be next for his fighter, but it's looking like we can expect a 2026 title defence from the Omaha-raised champion.
