Anthony Joshua will be preparing for Jake Paul under new mentorship

Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KO’s) has just under a month to go until he makes his long-awaited ring return.

The former two-time unified heavyweight champion is facing a slightly different calibre of opponent this time around.

He will take on Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KO’s) in Miami, Florida, with the bout set to be streamed live on Netflix.

The announcement comes after Jake Paul's November 15 clash with Gervonta Davis fell through following ‘Tank’ running into legal troubles.

‘AJ’ is a huge betting favourite, though he is still leaving no stone unturned in preparation for the surprise bout.

He has decided to part ways with former trainer Ben Davidson, in favour of working with Oleksandr Usyk’s team in Spain.

Speaking at Friday’s press conference, he revealed the reasoning behind the switch.

“So no, I won't be trained by Ben Davison,” Joshua stated.

“I said that London is a bit distracting for me. I was invited to train with team Usyk, so I’ve been in Spain, we’ve been doing some good training and he’s one of the best in the world and it’s not all down to him it’s also down to his team, so I linked up with them.

“Getting an insight into how someone who has achieved so much has been phenomenal. Igor [will be my head trainer on the night]. I’ve been with them a couple of months now.”
