Yoel Finol all set for professional debut
Rio 2016 Olympic Silver medallist Yoel Finol will make his professional debut on July 6 against fellow Venezuelan compatriot Luis Guerrero (5-2-1) at the Sugar Baby Rojas stadium in Barranquilla, during the Explosive Test card in which unbeaten Jeovanis Barraza (20-0) and debutant and World Championships bronze medallist Gabriel Maestre will fight for the WBA-Fedebol belt of the 154-pound class in what should be a stellar fight.
Although initially his rival was the veteran Anuar Salas, physical problems of the Colombian prevented him from being ready for the fight and now the standout amateur will be measured against a fellow native of El Vigia in a fight agreed upon in the bantamweight division.
The confrontation between Finol and Guerrero will be one of the four televised through ESPN KnockOut and will take place over six rounds.
Guerrero is 22 years old, as is as Finol, but he has had eight professional battles, of which he has won five, lost two and has one draw, while he has managed to beat four of his opponents by way of knockout - one of those being a debutant.
The headlining contest will see 32-year-old double Olympian Gabriel Maestre, a gold medallist from the Pan American Games in 2015 and South American Games in 2018, take on the current Columbian welterweight champion, Jeovanis Barraza. Nicknamed 'Meque', the unbeaten Columbian has knocked out 14 of his 20 victims and has held the national title since September 2016.
Flyweights Rober Barrera (22-2) and Josber Perez (16-1) clash in the undercard.
