Ibeth Zamora returns with a convincing victory

WBC flyweight champion, Ibeth Zamora spoke with the press about her successful return, starring in the historic extravaganza of Chiquita Boxing, dubbed: “To the ring for them”, where the champion defeated the fierce and intrepid Edith Flores in an eight round bout.

For Ibeth this return was crucially important and timely, proving that inactivity has not blunted her boxing skills. It was imperative to identify and clarify a new version of herself. Grateful to all those who have trusted in women’s boxing, Ibeth is hopeful that the ongoing campaign  for gender equality will come to fruition, because today everyone knows and recognizes that women expend the same effort.

She added that even though in this fight she felt very strong and in excellent physical condition, seeing the new generations and the girls who have been pushing hard, the demand is much greater, because she knows that experience is not the be all and end all everything, and that she has to keep learning.

Grateful to the Ring Telmex-Telcel team, Ibeth assured that, without their unwavering and tremendous support, things would have been exceptionally difficult, because during  pandemic, she has been able to be calm and fully dedicate herself to training since she has received her grant.

On how the year will close, Ibeth announced that it is possible that she will make a defense of her title on December against a rival yet to be defined. Ibeth clarified that she is ready to defend with whoever her promoter chooses.  However, she stated  that a fight with Marlen Esparza would be an intriguing challenge, since facing an Olympic medalist would be an honor and above all a highly demanding fight where she could show plus fulfil her full potential.

Ibeth also announced that she  will seek to make history by conquering another world title, now in the WBC super flyweight division that is currently in the hands of Lupita Martínez.
