Viktor Kotochigov claims WBC International lightweight title
At Arena Barys, in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, undefeated lightweight contender Viktor Kotochigov (10-0, 4 KOs) defeated Jairo “Doberman” Lopez (24-11, 16 KOs) via UD.
Kotochigov dominated most of the fight, demonstrating his power and speed.
With this triumph Kotochigov won the prestigious International WBC belt. The scores were 98-93, 99-93 and 99-91.
Headlining act Zhankosh Turarov (24-0) lit up the packed Barys Arena with a brutal finish of Mauro Maximiliano Godoy (31-4-1) in just three rounds and pushed himself firmly up the world rankings in the process.
The undefeated Nordine Oubaali cemented his claim to be the best bantamweight on the planet by defending his WBC world title with a destructive six-round stoppage of Arthur Villanueva.
There were pleasing wins for the likes of Davey Oliver Joyce, Sultan Zaurbek, Nurtas Azhbenov, Ali Baloyev, Abay Tolesh, Abilkhaiyr Shegaliyev, Hasibullah Ahmadi.
