Brisbane's unbeaten prospect Max "Money" McIntyre set for tough test

Brisbane's rising boxing sensation Max "Money" McIntyre will take the biggest step of his professional career when he faces Ukraine's Bohdan Sobol for the WBA Inter-Continental Super Middleweight Championship on July 10 at the iconic Fortitude Music Hall.

The event, titled The Money Show, is promoted by Tasman Fighters in association with GoldStar Promotions and will be broadcast live on Stan Sport and UFC Fight Pass.

The bout represents a significant leap in competition for the undefeated McIntyre, who has rapidly emerged as one of Australia's most exciting prospects.

The 20-year-old Queenslander enters the contest with a perfect professional record of 10-0 (9 KO) and has two titles already - the Queensland State and IBF Youth super-middleweight belts.

Standing across the ring will be the highly regarded Sobol, who has an impressive 20-1-1 (10 KO) ledger. The former Ukrainian champion arrives in Australia determined to derail McIntyre's rise and claim the WBA Inter-Continental title for himself.

Tasman Fighters CEO Mick Francis believes the opportunity has come at exactly the right time for his young star.

"This is unquestionably the biggest test of Max's career," said Francis.

"Bohdan Sobol is an accomplished fighter with tremendous amateur and professional experience. He's fought at a high level, he's battle-tested, and he's coming here with every intention of winning."

"There's pressure that comes with headlining a major event like The Money Show. You're fighting under the bright lights, in front of a packed Fortitude Music Hall, with a significant title on the line and a global audience watching on Stan Sport and UFC Fight Pass.

"But great fighters embrace pressure, and we believe Max is ready for this moment. He's earned this opportunity through hard work, discipline and impressive performances. Now it's time to see him take that next step.

"For Australian boxing, this is exactly the type of fight we need. An undefeated young prospect taking on a legitimate international contender with major championship implications. July 10 is going to be a special night."

For McIntyre, the opportunity to headline his own show and compete for a prestigious WBA title is the fulfilment of a lifelong dream.

"It's honestly hard to put into words what this opportunity means to me," said McIntyre.

"To headline a card of this magnitude, in my home town, and fight for the WBA Inter-Continental title is something I've dreamed about since I first laced up a pair of gloves."

"This is my chance to announce myself on the world stage. I've worked my entire life for opportunities like this and I'm determined to make the most of it."

"I want to thank Tasman Fighters and GoldStar Promotions for the belief they've shown in me from day one. They've backed me every step of the way and given me the platform to chase my dreams.

"I know Sobol is coming to win. He's experienced, he's dangerous and he's got plenty to fight for. But I've trained for moments like this my whole life and on July 10 I'll be ready."

Sobol, meanwhile, sees the contest as a pivotal opportunity to elevate his own career and break into the WBA's world rankings.

"I was born in Ukraine and started boxing when I was eight years old," said Sobol.

"From the beginning, I had one goal and one dream, and I'm still committed to it today.

"I don't know too much about Max personally. I've watched a few highlights from his fights, but what I do know is that his team has done a very good job promoting him."

When asked whether he had identified weaknesses in McIntyre's game, Sobol remained measured.

"I think you'll see the answer to that in our fight.

The Ukrainian believes victory on Australian soil would be a major milestone.

"For me, it's an opportunity to make a statement. Winning this title would give me the chance to enter the WBA rankings and take an important step forward in my career."

As for his prediction?

"I always step into the ring to win. I'm especially motivated for this fight, and I'll do everything necessary to come away with the victory."

Sobol is also eagerly anticipating his first visit to Australia.

"Yes, I'm really looking forward to visiting Australia. When I was a kid, I watched a movie about a boxer who started his career there. Back then, I could never have imagined that one day I'd be fighting in arenas like these myself. "Now I have that opportunity, and I intend to make the most of it."

With an undefeated Australian star, a hungry international challenger and a prestigious WBA championship at stake, The Money Show promises to deliver one of the most significant nights on the Australian boxing calendar in 2026.
