Ultimate BOXXER super middleweight tournament - Live coverage and results

The Ultimate BOXXER super middleweight tournament is upon us on Tuesday Fight Night

Britain’s fastest-growing professional boxing promotion, today confirmed the full card for its #TuesdayNightFightNight event taking place Tuesday, November 10 at the BT Sport Studios in Stratford, London. The event’s centrepiece is a one-night, winner-takes-all knockout tournament in the super-middleweight (168 lbs) division. The four participants will first clash in three-round semi-final matches, with the winners then squaring off immediately for a five-round final to determine which of them walks away with the grand prize and The Golden Robe.

Zak Chelli (7-1-1, 3 KO’s) makes his debut for BOXXER in this tournament and is looking to score statement wins to erase his frustrations at the controversial decision which followed his fight with Jack Cullen earlier this year. Joining him on the starting grid are young Manchester prospect Vladamir Georgiev and two new additions to the card. Liverpool’s Harry Woods (4-0), who boxed for England as an amateur, and Cumbria’s Mike McGoldrick (6-0, 2 KO’s) step in to replace Diego Costa and Charlie Schofield, who have withdrawn due to injury and covid-19 infection respectively.

Semi Final #1

Zak Chelli vs Vladimir Georgiev
3x3 Super-middleweight contest

Zak Chelli came into the tournament the favourite from the offset, and started from the opening bell boxing on the front foot and controlling the centre of the ring and working the jab well.

The second round followed a much similar pattern picking apart Georgiev who was already blowing after being put on the back foot throughout the opening two rounds.

Zak Chelli wins the fight after controlling throughout and impressed everyone boxing well within himself.

Chelli advances to the final.

 

Semi Final #2

Harry Woods vs Mike McGoldrick
3x3 Super-middleweight contest

An explosive start took place between the two fighters with fast opening exchanges and McGoldrick came out on the front foot with Woods trying to counter from the ropes.

McGoldrick continued to take the fight into a brawl, having the upper hand in the exchanges by taking the fight closer and into Woods. 25-year-old Woods was continuing to try and find the gaps however and is staking his own claim to try and negotiate the pressure.

The final round saw 35-year-old McGoldrick continuing to take hold of the slugfest and avoid the neat counter punching of Woods.

McGoldrick takes the victory by unanimous decision and takes on Chelli in the final.

Zak Chelli vs Mike McGoldrick
3x3 Super-middleweight contest

Chelli looked the fresher going into the first round, neatly picking his shots against a warrior in McGoldrick with speed and precision. McGoldrick crumbled to the canvas after a neat shot to the body was followed up by a stiff right as Chelli showed his freshness, taking a 10-8 first round.

Chelli then hammered home another three knockdowns and ended the contest with an explosive left hand to take the Ultimate Boxxer 7 tournament victory.
