Tyson Fury blasts former world champion for ridiculous demands

Two-time word heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has revealed that former unified world champion Andy Ruiz Jr. priced himself out of an August fight with him due to his reidiculos demands.

'The Gypsy King' said of 'The Destroyer', "I'd punch his head right in, but they asked for ridiculous numbers.

"Andy Ruiz priced himself out."

Fury's 39th fight will take place in Dublin on August 1, live on DAZN. The 37-year-old Morecombe man joins the Pierce O'Leary vs Mark Chamberlain card at the 3Arena, which sees the Irish 'Big Bang' defending his IBO World super-lightweight title to the English challenger.

Frank Warren also commented recently that Tyson would not be fighting Ruiz, quashing any further rumours.

The Mexican-American shocked the world in the summer of 2019 when he stopped the undefeated Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua to relieve the Brit of his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO World heavyweight titles in New York. He lost the immediate rematch in December the same year after he turned up to Saudi Arabia much heavier and unfit.

He didn't fight for another 18 months after that, when he defeated fellow Mexican-American Chris Arreola via unanimous decision in May 2021. Then he didn't fight again for 16 months, registering another UD defeat in September 2022 against Cuban Luis Ortiz. But then the lonhest hiatus of his career followed when he didn't get back into the ring for 23 months, just about managing to draw with Jarrell Miller in August 2024, which many people believed 'Big Baby' deserved to win.

Now 36, he has been out of the ring for another extended term of 22 months. His inactivity had been killing his world title contentions, and now it appears unrealisitc demands for purses are also reducing his chances even further.

Also joining Fury on August 1st in Dublin are Irish boxers Gary Cully, Steven Cairns, heavyweight Adam Olaniyan, Sean McComb and Bobbi Flood.
