The Ken Buchanan Story set for release on October 10

The new feature documentary The Boxer from Somewhere Else: The Ken Buchanan Story will be released in select VUE cinemas across the UK on October 10, 2025.

Directed by Jamie Steedman, the film celebrates the life and career of Ken Buchanan, the Edinburgh-born fighter who rose from humble beginnings to become world lightweight champion in 1970. Widely regarded as one of Britain’s greatest boxers, Buchanan went on to be inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame alongside icons like Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard.

Featuring rare archive footage, animation and an exclusive feature-length interview with Buchanan, the documentary paints a powerful portrait of a champion whose battles outside the ring were just as defining as those within it.

“Ken Buchanan was more than a world champion,” says director Jamie Steedman. “He was a symbol of resilience and pride for Scotland, and his story deserves to be remembered on the big screen.”

The Boxer from Somewhere Else will screen at VUE London Shepherd’s Bush, Cheshire Oaks, Manchester Printworks, Edinburgh Ocean Terminal, Edinburgh Omni Centre, and Glasgow St Enoch’s, with more cinemas to follow.
