Purse bids called for Saul Canelo Alvarez vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko

IBF have called for purse bids to be submitted for Canelo vs Derevyanchenko

The IBF has ordered a purse bid for the mandatory defense of the Middleweight title between Champion Saul Canelo Alvarez (59-1-2) and #1 ranked contender Sergiy Derevyanchenko (13-1).

Alvarez was ordered to negotiate with Derevyanchenko on May 15, 2019. The IBF has received a written certification from Alex Dombroff, Esq. on behalf of Sergiy Derevyanchenko indicating that they were no longer willing to participate in negotiations and requested an immediate purse bid pursuant to IBF Rule 10A. The purse bid for this bout will take place on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 12 Noon.

'The Technician', 33 from Ukraine, challenged Daniel Jacobs (34-2) for his IBF World middleweight title in October 2018, losing by split decision in a closely-contested fight. A win over IBF #8 Jack Culcay (25-3) in April this year has put him back in the No.1 position with the International Boxing Federation.

The Beijing 2008 Olympian, trained by Andre Rozier and managed by Al Haymon, has stopped 10 of his 12 victims in the paid ranks and comes with an extensive amateur pedigree.

Mexican pound-for-pound superstar Canelo is currently the holder of the IBF and WBA 'Super' World middleweight titles. His last fight saw him defeat Derevyanchenko's sole conqueror Jacobs by unanimous decision at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Cinco de Mayo - May 5.
