Oleksandr Usyk is accused of ducking an undisputed showdown as he chases a Deontay Wilder clash

Fabio Wardley is not happy with Oleksandr Usyk

Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KO’s) has done it all: conquered two weight divisions, beating every man put in front of him, and carving out a space for himself amongst the all-time greats of the sport. 

However, even Usyk isn’t immune to criticism, and the heavyweight king, who recently vacated his WBO belt, has since been called out by its newest owner. 

Fabio Wadley (20-0-1, 19 KO’s) earned himself the WBO interim title when he stopped Joseph Parker in their October meeting. 

However, following the Ukrainian decision to drop the belt, Wardley has since found himself upgraded to full champion. 

He is expected to make his maiden title defence next spring, and that is likely not going to be against Usyk, who still holds the other three major titles. 

As a result, Wardley is understandably disheartened, and his team are now accusing Usyk of ducking the Ipswich fighter.

“Before the [Parker] fight, Usyk’s team put an offer out there. I won’t go into too much detail, but we agreed to everything in principle,” Wardley manager, Michael Ofo, told TalkSport. 

“All of the terms they wanted, we agreed to them, and then they backed out. To be honest, I thought that Usyk was going to take the fight.

“I thought he was the type of champion who doesn’t duck challenges.”

If Wardley is hoping for a showdown with Usyk in the near future, he may find himself sorely disappointed. 

The two-weight world champion appears to have little interest in an undisputed showdown with Wardley, instead turning his focus to a potential showdown with Deontay Wilder.
