Can Natasha Jonas finally overcome Katie Taylor?

British boxing icon Natasha Jonas (16-3-1, 9 KO’s) has enjoyed a phenomenal career between the ropes. From amateur stardom to conquering two weight classes as a professional, the 41-year-old has enjoyed a wealth of success inside the squared circle.

Her career looks as though it's coming to a close, though she is keen to go out with a bang.

'Miss GB' has shared the ring with all-time great Katie Taylor (25-1, 6 KO’s) on two occasions, once as an amateur and once as a professional, and while she has yet to get the better of the Irish icon, her trainer Joe Gallagher has revealed she is eyeing a third attempt at the Irish boxing superstar.

“That depends on what Katie Taylor wants to do,” Gallagher revealed to Sky Sports.

“I'm hanging on there, I think she (Natasha Jonas) is hanging on there for the ideal dance partner. Both girls have had a rivalry since 2012. Both of them have been phenomenal ambassadors for worldwide boxing, for Irish and British boxing, and the people that they've inspired to make women's boxing where it is now.”

The pair last faced off in 2021, and while Katie came out the victor, the razor-thin margins of the affair have left plenty of room for a trilogy.

“I think the pair of them put on a great fight behind closed doors at the Manchester Arena during COVID,” Gallagher said

“Very close fight, only one point in it. I think it would be great for the pair of them to finish, for the crowd to be able to see the two of them at it against each other.

“It isn’t just a fight, it's an event, it's the last dance, it's built up, the rivalry. We say the last dance. Natasha might do it the third time, and then there will be another one!”
