Naoya Inoue is after the WBO world bantamweight title

Naoya Inoue is reportedly about to jump straight into another bantamweight world title unification in his next fight.

The Japanese sensation cemented himself as a pound-for-pound star in 2019 as he became a legitimate three-weight world champion, conquered the World Boxing Super Series tournament and unified WBA & IBF titles.

Now, according to BoxingScene, he’ll attempt to add the WBO belt currently held by John Riel Casimero to his collection by facing him on April 25 in Las Vegas.

After winning his Fight of the Year WBSS final against Nonito Donaire in November, Inoue inked a co-promotional deal to work with Bob Arum’s Top Rank on ESPN in America.

Many boxers have signed such deals over the past 18 months due to the battle for talent between Top Rank/ESPN, Matchroom/DAZN and PBC/FOX.

It’s become customary for new signings to have at least one tune-up bout so they can earn some relatively easy money with their new representatives before taking big fights.

Naoya Inoue has shown no interest in this idea.

He has instead ‘agreed terms’ take on arguably the most dangerous opponent out there for him in his division.

Casimero stunned long-reigning champion Zolani Tete with a third-round knockout to win his belt in November and is also showing no fear by heading straight for the ‘Monster’.

The other champion in the division is WBC king Nordine Oubaali, who will no doubt await the winner for an undisputed clash.
