In 2006, young Miguel Berchelt went to try his luck in the Third Division of soccer with Pumas Morelos team, but was not selected.
“I went to try Pumas Morelos, unfortunately I did not stay in the team, as it did not give me the dream of being soccer player. But God put me in exactly the right place. He gave me the opportunity later to be world champion,” Miguel Berchelt revealed.
The WBC super-featherweight champion and P4P star has been a follower of the Pumas team all his life, and although he could not fulfill the dream of being a soccer player, he went on to acheive greatness in sport anyway, currently the reigning supreme as a WBC Champion with six defenses of his super featherweight title. He needs just three more to catch up with legendary JC Chávez, who holds the record with nine.
“My goal is to do the fight with Óscar Valdez at the very first opportunity; and then try to break Julio César Chávez’s record in super featherweight title defenses.”
