Miguel Berchelt and Oscar Valdez's long awaited bout could finally happen with negotiations being made for the clash to take place on November 7th

WBC super featherweight world champion Miguel Berchelt could finally face off with unbeaten former world champion Oscar Valdez during this calendar year, with negotiations taking place between Valdez's manager Frank Espinosa and Top Rank to seal the fight to take place in the United States in November.

Berchelt, 28, with a 37-1 record with 33 knockouts, has made six defenses of the title that he won against another Mexican, Francisco Vargas, in January 2017, and is without a doubt one of the most established fighters today. 'El Alcaran' has stopped his last five opponents and has held the belt for 3 years 6 months and 29 days.

The challenger remains undefeated (27-0, 21 KOs) and climbed to the super featherweight division in 2019 after a strong campaign at 126 pounds. He is also a former WBO featherweight champion from 2016 to 2019. The 29-year-old an incredibly aggressive style, often landing huge shots and combinations on his opponents throughout his career, boasting a 79% knockout ratio, so will no doubt provide a huge challenge to the reigning champion Berchelt.

Both fighters have already had the opportunity to remove any ring rust ahead of this highly anticipated contest, with Valdez defeating Jayson Velez at the MGM in Las Vegas, while champion Berchelt defeated Eleazar Valenzuela in Mexico.

Champion Berchelt believes he is well prepared for the fight, but respects his opponent as a fellow top fighter in the division.
