Moses Itauma next fight in Glasgow in May

Rising heavyweight star Moses Itauma (11-0, 9KO) will fight in Scotland on May 24.

The unbeaten prospect, tipped to become a future world champion, will fight on the undercard of Josh Taylor vs Ekow Essuman at The OVO Hydro in Glasgow, live on DAZN.

The 20-year-old from Chatham's opponent hasn't been named yet, but it's guaranteed to be an established name so as not to take a backwards step in his meteoric rise that's seen him climb to WBA #3, IBF #9, WBO #2, IBO #26.

Born in Slovakia, Moses came to England in 2008 and settled in Chatham, Kent. His amateur career lasted from 2017 to 2022 and he won all 20 bouts.

His pro debut came in 2023 and after winning his first eight fights, he stepped up to win the WBO Inter-Continental title in May 2024, which he defended against Mariusz Wach in July last year, then again to Demsey McKean last December. All nine of his KOs have come within two rounds.

Trained by Ben Davison, Itauma is guided by Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren.

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn recently confirmed that talks had begun for Moses to face Justis Huni (11-0, 6KO) for the WBO Interim world heavyweight title.

45-year-old Hearn stated, “I think you’re going to see Justis Huni against Moses Itauma and I think it’s a great fight, I really do. I think that fight will be for the WBO Interim world title. We’re already talking to Queensberry about it.”

Whether Justus Huni becomes Itauma's next opponent remains to be seen, but the WBO Interim title is now in the hands of Joseph Parker, so it's unlikely that belt will be on the table.

Also featuring on the card is a cracker between the unbeaten former British champion Nathaniel Collins (15-0, 7 KOs) and ex-European bantamweight champ Lee McGregor (15-1-1, 11 KOs) in an all-Scottish showdown for the prestigious WBC Silver featherweight strap.

At cruiserweight, WBA Continental champion Aloys Jr (9-1, 8KOs) will take on a Scottish challenge from David Jamieson (13-3, 10 KOs) from East Kilbride.

There's a Glasgow derby at middleweight with Aston Brown (7-0, 2KOs) who takes on Reece Porter (5-0, 3 KOs) over 10 rounds for the Scottish title, along with a fourth professional fight over six rounds at super welterweight for recent Queensberry signing Drew Limond (3-0).

Sunderland favourite and British Olympian Luke McCormack (3-0, 2 KOs) will fight over eight at super lightweight, with Perth lightweight Luke Bibby (9-0, 2 KOs) in six round action.

Glasgow will witness the professional debut of new Queensberry signing Alex Arthur Jr at light heavyweight over four rounds, with super lightweight Lee Welsh (4-0, 1 KO) from Stirling, super bantamweight Marcus Sutherland (6-0, 4 KOs) from Shotts and light heavyweight Sean Lazzerini (2-0, 1 KO) from Glasgow all fighting over the four-round distance.
